FAQ

We strongly recommend that public transport be used, as on-campus parking is both scarce and costly.

Participants staying at a hotel in Lausanne will receive a free public transport pass, courtesy of their hotel, valid all-day on all relevant bus or metro lines. EPFL is best reached by M1 Metro, arriving from either Lausanne or Renens train stations.

See the Swiss Railway website for train schedules to Lausanne or Renens.

From Lausanne train station: (~30min to the BioE2024 venue)
Ride the M2 Metro going uphill toward Epalinges/Croisettes, from across the train station’s main entrance, one stop till Lausanne-Flon. There, change to M1 Metro (one floor up) and get off at EPFL after a 12-minute ride. From the Metro stop the Rolex Learning Center is an approx. 10min walk across campus away.

From Renens train station: (~17min to the BioE2024 venue)
Ride the M1 Metro directly from the train station (near platform 1) to EPFL. From the Metro stop the Rolex Learning Center is an approx. 10min walk across campus away.

By car
On the motorway, follow “Lausanne-Sud” and take exit “UNIL-EPFL”. On EPFL’s campus, (scarce) visitor parking space (not free of charge) may be found under the Esplanade or along Avenue Piccard. Car parks marked with green “P” signage are reserved for holders of a special campus permit and may not be used.
