Single Molecule Bioanalysis Laboratory

Chan Cao completed her training as a chemist in the Department of Chemistry at East China University of Science and Technology in Shanghai, where she obtained a PhD in Applied Chemistry 2017. She continues her specialization with a postdoctoral fellowship at EPFL. In 2020, she was awarded an SNSF PRIMA fellowship and became an independent group leader, heading the Bio and Bio-inspired Nanosystems Laboratory at the Global Health Institute and the Institute of Bioengineering, School of Life Science at EPFL. Chan Cao is interested in developing new analytical approaches to characterize biomolecules at the atomic and molecular levels. Her group focuses on single-molecule nanopore technology. In July 2023, Dr. Cao was appointed as a tenure-track Assistant Professor in the Department of Inorganic and Analytical Chemistry within the Faculty of Science at the University of Geneva. Her work continues to push the boundaries of bioanalytical chemistry, aiming to enhance our understanding of complex biological systems.
